THE VOLCANIC ERUPTION THAT LASTED FOR 8 MOUNTHS: AND CHANGED THE COURSE OF HISTORY: LAKI VOLCANO ERUPTION IN 1783 


On june 8 in 1783 the eruption of laki volcano started that lasted for 8 mounths and changed the course of history.
                               The largest ice field on the island, southwest of the Vatna Glacier (Vatnajokull), Laki, volcanic fisher and mountain in southern Iceland.Mount Lucky was the only prominent topographic feature in the path of the developing Fascist volcano, now known as Lakagigar.Spread northeast-southwest, the fissure is divided into two approximately halves by a 2,684-foot (818-meter) mountain, which is about 650 feet (200 m) high from its surroundings.


                                   On June 8, 1783, a 13 km (15.5 mi) long fissure opened with physical explosions due to the interaction of groundwater with the rising basalt magma.Over the course of a few days, the erruption remains less explosive, stromboline and later changed in an airborne, with a higher rate of excess flow.The event is ranked 4th in the volcanic eruption index, but the eight-month release of sulfur aerosols was one of the most significant climate and socially influential events of the last centuries.The eruption, also known as Skaftareldar, or slider estimated basalt lava, produced 14 kilometers (3.4 cubic miles), with a total volume of 0.91 kilometers 3 (0.2 cubic miles).Lava springs were estimated to reach altitudes of 800 to 1,400 meters (2,600 to 4,600 feet).The gases were transported through the stimulus column to an altitude of about 15 km (10 miles).The eruption lasted until February 7, 1784, but in the first five months most of the lava was errupted.
                             The study said the incident "occurred as ten pulses of activity, each beginning with a short-lived explosive phase and then followed by a long-running firefight." The Grimsvotin volcano, from which  Lucky's fissure extend, was still erupting, from 1783 to 1785.The supply of gases, which included an estimated 8 million tons of hydrogen fluoride and an estimated 120 million tons of sulfur dioxide, gave rise to what has since become known throughout Europe as the "Luki Haze."


                              The effects of the Lucky eruption were impressive.In the eastern United States, average winter temperatures averaged 4.8 degrees Celsius, 225 years old.The temperature drop across the Northern Hemisphere is estimated to be about 1 degree Celsius.
